MAMA MIA!

This is a movie which is an adaption of musical play. The main plot is about a girl, Sophie, who is going to get married doesn't know who is her father. The only clue is her mother's diary which keeps her mother's entire secret.

Donna once had three lovers at almost the same time, but none of them got married with her. At that time, she found she was pregnant. Sophie hopes to find her true father and wishes him to give her away on wedding day. Therefore, she sends invitations to these three people, Bill, Harry and Sam. She believes she would know who is her father when she sees him.

At the same time, Donna is exciting about meeting her two best partners, Tanya and Rose. They were once a band twenty years ago. Sophie hides the three men in the goat house but still being discovered by Donna. Donna asks them to leave. On the other hand, Donna tells the truth to her best partners- she did not know who is Sophie's father.

Sophie takes the chance to get along with these men one by one, and hopes to find the clues which could tell her who is her father. When Bill tells her that the hostel is sponsored by his aunt, Sophia, Sophie thinks Bill is her father. The next day, Sophie has an argument with Donna. When Donna walks away, she meets Sam who shows his concern for Sophie. Both of them realize they still love each other.

However, Sophie's fiance, Sky, is furious at Sophie's behavior because she does not consult him
about looking for her unknown father. After few days, the wedding begins. It is Donna who gives Sophie away. Donna tells Sophie that her father is here, but she does not know which one is the real one among Bill, Sam and Harry. These guys are willing to be Sophie's one third father. Suddenly, Sophie announces that she and Sky wouldn't get married right now. They decide to travel all over the world together. At the end, Sam purposes to Donna. Sam and Donna finally get together.
I think this movie is funny and interesting. There are lots of songs in this movie and those songs are wonderful. I think the end is full of interesting. Although Sophie doesn't know who is her father at all, she finally recognizes herself. She accepts who she is instead of deny herself. Looking for a father is like looking for her identity. All people have an imperfect life. People still have their own regret for anything, like dreams or relationship with friends. But everyone lives well after a long time passed.

GANGLAMEDO

It's story about a mysterious Tibet legend. A Tibet girl is famous for her perfect performance at a traditional Tibet song, GANGLAMEDO. Because her voice, she is called Ganglamedo. However, she disappears in her wedding day. After sixty years, a Han female singer sings the song again. She loses her voice in one performance and disappears. Is it a curse to sing this song?
The Han girl believes that her voice is taken away by a goddess of Tibet. Therefore, she comes to Tibet and tries to find her lost voice at the god lake. In the process of seeking the god lake, she needs to rely on a man named Zha, who is a famous drummer in Tibet. Zha is falling in love with the female singer, An Yu, when he met her at first. They have lots of conflicts during the way, but they get closely to each other. However, they don't get the god lake together. Zha decides to return to Lhasa because of a bar called GANGLAMEDO. He wants to have it because his grandfather draws a picture of a beautiful woman named Ganglamedo. This picture is a lover of his grandfather sixty years ago. They felled in love, but Ganglamedo's father married her to another man. Ganglamedo ran away from the wedding and lived beside the god lake. Ganglamedo waited for Zha's grandfather there, but Zha's grandfather didn't come. Zha's grandfather lost his memory during the way to the god lake. When Ganglamedo finally sees the picture of herself which is brought by An Yu, she dies with smile.
Though its story is a little bit out of date, but this movie is exotic. I see the daily life of Tibet people even it's not the important part of the movie. In addition, the music is the most important part of this movie especially the song, GANGLAMEDO. It's really fantastic.

A Good Husband

What is the definition of a good husband? He should be good at doing housework, making a lot of money, or has high reputation in the society. He should be handsome, intelligent and gentle. He should remember all the important days for his spouse, like Valentine's Day or her birthday. Besides, he should have some sweet behaviors, like giving flowers to his wife sometimes or giving gift to her on those important days. That is probably every woman's Prince Charming. But for me, a good husband must have these three qualities: he must be in good health, have wisdom and respect me.
First of all, he must be healthy. He needs not have big muscles but has to be in good health condition. With good health, he could live happily. Besides, he could have vitality to work. Even under pressure, he would deal with it very well. He could also do things he is interested in. I have read one story in the newspaper. There was a rich man who spent his whole life making money. However, he found that he got cancer. All of his families did not care about his health. What they care was how to share his wealth. That is really sad. Although he may make a big fortune by burning his oil day and night, it is meaningless. Only with good health can one be able to enjoy life.
Second, a good husband has to be wise. He should not only be smart and knowledgeable but should also understand things which others do not. When there are misunderstandings or quarrels, he would not jump into judgment quickly. In addition, he should be good at communicating with others, too. If he could not express his idea clearly, it is useless even he is wise. When my parents quarreled with each other several years ago, my father often blamed my mother for everything she did. My mother was not good at refuting my father's opinions so she did not say anything. In the end, my father would regret for he was too impatient to judge things. Recently, they seldom quarrel with each other. When they are going to quarrel, one of them would walk away. Then they will communicate with each other after they calm down. With wisdom, they deal with things better.
Most important of all, a good husband knows how to respect his wife. He is not self-centered and respects his wife's thoughts and decisions. He gives his wife freedom to grow and is willing to grow with her. They are pursuing the same goal with determination. My aunt and her husband are the best example. When they have to decide on important things, my uncle-in-law would ask the opinion of my aunt. Moreover, he respects my aunt's decision when she decided to change her job. He also encouraged my aunt to challenge different things and accompanied her. Now, they are devoting themselves to protect the enviroment. This kind of relationship is exactly what I expect.
Many people always want to find good spouses who understand themselves, but not everyone could meet the right people at the right time. When they search for soul mates, it is important for them to prepare themselves at the same time. Prepare early and wait for chances to come. That is the efficient way. After all, finding a soul mate is like two people run in three-legged race. They must have similar concepts and would adjust themselves for each other so that they could run to the destination at one heat. If I met such a person, I would take this chance immediately because a soul mate is hard to find.

Is Plastic Surgery Really Helpful?

My nose is not straight at all, what can I do? My face is like a full moon, how can I change it? The actress's face is so graceful that I wish I was like her. Most of people are not satisfy with their appearances, especially women. They want to have big round eyes, oval-shaped face and sexy thick lips. In the past, it is an impossible mission to change people's appearances as they wish, but people could become beautiful and attractive just as those idols on television with the help of plastic surgery now. Plastic surgery can make people become who they want to be. This could be the biggest step in modern society. However, having a plastic surgery could not help people to build up their confidence and it will not be absolutely safe and cheap as people think. They also have to face the discrimination from others.
People who have plastic surgery claim their confidence is built up by plastic surgery. After surgery, they become beautiful and handsome. They get more job offers than before and their interpersonal relationships also get better. They feel quite content with the outcome of plastic surgery, but they forget the most important thing: confidence is not built on beauty but on heart. If a person could not accept his original appearance, he would not satisfy anymore. Then what will happen? They will spend a lot of money in order to look perfect. Finally, they will be addicted to plastic surgery, like Michael Jackson. He has undergone many surgeries that change his skin color. Therefore, there was once news about his face that is totally ruined because of the surgeries.
Having plastic surgeries is not safe and cheap at all. Although plastic surgeons claim those surgeries to be absolutely safe, they still have some side effects. Take those people who have breast augmentation for example. Because breast augmentation is to embed silica gel into the body, some people may have exclusion or infection. Besides, the filler may get hard if people do not knead their breast. What's worse, what how can they deal with the failed surgeries? Should they have another operation or just accept the failed outcome? In fact, having plastic surgeries is quite expensive. They have to pay thousands of dollars for each surgery at least.
Even though those people who have plastic surgeries are satisfied with their transformation, how their friends and family think is another question. Do they really accept the new and artificial perfect people? In Taiwan, some people do have discrimination against those who have plastic surgeries. Generally people think they are like fakes and their beauty is artificial. Everyone could have it if they had enough money. Families would not be so harsh, but some parents may feel sad for they do not give perfect appearance to their children. So their children have to become perfect by means of plastic surgery.
Pursuing perfect appearance is the human nature. After all, people would have good first impression to those pretty and handsome ones. They do really have more chances than others, but beauty is not the most important factor to judge a person. Those people who want to have plastic surgery should think more before doing it. Is it necessary and helpful? What is the motivation? People should accept their original appearances instead of trying to fit themselves into the standard of modern beauty. Otherwise, they may spend lots of money but get serious side effects and others’ discrimination. Is this outcome really worthy?

Freak the Mighty

I watched this movie in the listening class. To be honest, it's a warm story which between a slow learner and a tiny, crippled genius. Max is a slow learner who is too large for his age. He lives with his gram and grim, the parents of his mother. He's always teased by other boys. Freak is a disabled who suffer from rare disease. These two people are neighbors. The school asks Freak to assist Max to overcome his problem, so they have lots of time to get along with each other. Freak is the brain of Max and Max is the legs of Freak. Both of them don't have friends, but they become friends of each other now. Freak teaches Max about King Arthur and his loyal knights. They are trying to act like noble knights. At this time, Freak is sent to hospital because his condition of disease is getting serious which means he has no more time left. They give a purse back to a woman who is robbed by gang. However, this woman is an old friend of Max's father who is a killer. Max's father, Kenny, once killed Max's mother so Max's grim and gram try hard to keep Max away from him. Kenny is paroled and he hopes to see his son which is forbidden in law after the killing. Therefore, Kenny kidnapped his own son. He wants to take Max away so he ties him on the chair. At the same time, the woman uses the delicious food as an excuse and hands him a knife secretly. Because of Max's clumsy behavior, the knife is discovered by Kenny and Kenny is going to kill the woman. Kenny thinks she makes his son turn against him. Max gets rid of the rope and speaks out his hatred for his father. Just at the important minute, Freak finds and rescues him. At Christmas time, they eat together. Freak gives Max an empty book with title "Freak the Mighty." On the next day, Freak passed away.
The most impressive sentence is: His heart is too big for his body. It's said by Freak's mother who comforts Max. I see the true friendship between these two boys. Even Freak is a genius, he still needs friends. As for Max, he overcomes his difficulty of speaking in the end. He cherishes Freak in his heart although Freak is dead. It's so touching!

Painted Skin

This movie is based on a Chinese traditional novel which has several ghost stories in it. I once read the book, so I'm curious about how this movie will be presented. After watching it, I think it's quite different from the original story. In original one, a demon wears the skin of a beauty and tries to seduce a scholar, Wang, who has a wife. Wang is attracted by this beauty and forgets all about his wife. The demon kills him by digging out his heart. His wife tries to fight with the demon by the help of a Taoist. In the end, she brings her husband's back to life by a little bit disgusting way. However, this movie adds more plot into the original story. It describes the love between human and demon and the struggling between two brothers.

Wei is the fox demon who has good appearance. She is rescued by Wang, a general of army, when he fights with a bandit stronghold. There's a lizard demon which is in love with the fox demon. Wei needs to eat human's heart so that the "skin" wouldn't get old quickly. So the lizard demon kills people for her. Wei falls in love with Wang and she wants to be his wife. Wang's wife doubts Wei is the demon and worries her husband would be hurt by Wei. At this time, Pang comes back to this city with an unskilled female Taoist. Pang is the original general of the army who falls in love with Wang's wife, Pei Rong. Wei asks Wang's life to drink poison which can turn her into demon's appearance or Wei will keep killing innocent people. Wang thinks his wife is the demon so he kills his wife. Then he finds out Wei is the real demon. Wang asks Wei to rescue his wife by one condition of killing himself. Wei is touched by the true love of Wang and she decides to sacrifice herself. But the lizard demon stops Wei. In the end, Pang uses the Taoist's blood to kill the lizard demon. Wang and his wife resurrect again. Pang and Taoist travel the world together.

In the movie, I see the true love between couple. Also, I see the love of sacrifice. Wei still has the right to love even she is a demon, but her behavior is wrong. Love doesn't mean possession. Love means giving space to lovers and respecting each other. That reminds me of an English story "A Rose for Emily". Possession will hurt love without consciousness. That's a pity.

Stranger than Fiction

In this movie, the man, Crick, heard a mysterious voice one day. This voice indicates the details in Crick's life. For example, the voice knows Crick is counting times when he is brushing his teeth. It's like his life is told by someone else. Crick is an IRS agent who lives in a boring life. He's alone no matter in work and the relationship with woman. One day, he meets a woman, Anna, by making a tax inspection. Anna is a baker who does evade tax on purpose. Anna dislikes Crick at first, but she gradually changes during the process of getting along with him. Crick is still troubled with this voice, so he turns to a professor for help. This voice affects Crick's performance in his work. His boss suggests him to take a rest. When he is on vacation, he begins to make some changes in his invariable boring life. He starts to enjoy his life.
On the other hand, the professor tries to help Crick identify the voice. He names a list for Crick. At the same time, Crick discovers the true identity of the mysterious voice by accident. It's a voice of a female writer who always writes tragedy ending. Crick finds her and asks her to change the ending. However, the professor doesn't approve this idea. After reading the ending, Crick realizes that his death is the best ending for this master piece. In the end, the writer decides to change the ending.
Why do I think this movie is interesting? It may be the concern of death. When a person knows that he or she is going to die, what would they choose to do? Facing it bravely or escaping. Besides, when a writer writes about works about tragedy which happened in real life, would he or she change the ending in order to save others' life which is a kind of breaking principles? This is really interesting.

Camp

This movie is about a group of young people who join into a talent camp. They practice different kinds of dancing, singing and acting in this camp. In there, they are performing in front of a large audience. Each of them has some problems. Vilad is a handsome and talented man in this camp. However he is suffering from a mental problem- he always keeps counting numbers in his mind when he is boring. The reason he comes to the camp is that he finds he stops counting when he is acting. He meets a girl and a homosexual boy, Michael. This girl's dream is to become a famous actress but her family doesn't support her. Michael is a boy with pimple and he has communicating problem with his family.

Besides a group of troublesome adolescents, there's one poor director who was once famous but now is out of fashion. Since he received criticism from a famous theater, he lost his confidence and passion in his work. He became a drunk and had part-time job in the talent camp. Vilad is a big fan of this director, but he is disappointed when he meets his idol. However, Vilad discovers that the director doesn't lose his passion in creating new work. He decides to help this man. In the end, these adolescents give a perfect performance in front of other people. They are all successful.

I think the most touching part is the black girl's singing. She wears braces on her teeth because her father thinks she is too fat. But in the end, she stands up in the stage and sings. In her singing, she expresses her parents accept the way she is. Everyone is different from others in different ways, but sometimes people like to set a standard of beauty. To achieve the beauty standard, lots of people suffer. Some "ugly" girls would be pushed out from groups. That's really cruel to those people. I think this movie is good and incredible. With some unnamable actors and actress, the director could finish this good movie. This movie cost only 23 days to finish with in low budget.

Winds of September

This is a movie about a group of senior high school students. It happened in1996 when there were lots of Taiwan baseball scandals. The story follows Yen and Tang and their gang of friends through the last year of their high school life. On the day of graduation, Tang chooses not to attend the ceremony, but to fulfill the promise he made with Yen, which is to go down south together to seek out their baseball hero.
In this movie, Yen was a handsome and amorous. His girlfriend was a nice girl whose homework wasn't very good. When Yen hung out with his friends, he always accosted beautiful girls. This kind of behavior annoyed Tang a little bit. Tang was in charge of teaching Yen's girlfriend's homework and he fell in love with her. Besides, there were two first grade students who were very loyal to those seniors. Their class leader always tried to stop these two people going out with Yen and Tang. This gang of friends always spent time together, but they faced a series of trials. Tang was hurt by stranger because he was mistaken for Yen. Yen accosted with other woman who was the stranger's girlfriend. In order to compensate for Tang, Yen mimicked the signature of their baseball hero and gave the ball to Tang. But in the same time, a car accident happened. Yen was dead. Tang was the one who carried Yen. The one of the first grade students also got into trouble because of a stolen motorcycle. One of a senior stole the motorcycle and lent it to his friends. When the first grade student wanted to ride it, he bumped into a person and arrested for stealing a motorcycle. In the end, he left school.
This movie is really terrific. It describes not only friendship but also love between lovers. Besides, it also makes me to think about the meaning of friendship. What kinds of behavior could represent the true friendship? Does it mean always being loyalty to friend even if I might get into jail? Well, I don't think so.

Click

This movie is about a man who gets a wonderful remote control of everything even his life. Michael is an architect who devotes all his time to his job but his boss is an asshole who doesn't appreciate his attitude. Michael has seldom to get along with his family and always has to compare with his rich neighbor. After a period of time, he feels frustrated and tired about so many different remote controls around his life. He decides to get a versatile remote control. A clerk whose name is Morty shows him a special remote control. Michael finds its unique function occasionally. He finds this remote control is really amazing, like he could skip the argument with his wife by pushing the button. He uses this to avoid anything that displeases and annoys him. But in the end, he finds that his life is sucks and boring. Because the special remote control has an unreturnable and pre-recording function, Michael skips lots of important moments in his life. He finally becomes a successful businessman only with money. His wife divorced with him and his children are not very friendly to him. He realizes that he lost his family. He regrets. In the end, he wakes up in a bed of the store. It's just a dream. He is sure which side he should choose now. Michael chooses to cherish his family instead of money.

When I look this movie, I'm thinking that it's a common mistake that most people always take money too seriously. They spend most of their time trying to get lots of money. They ignore their family, their friend and their children. It's really stupid but people always do that. In addition, I also think people really don't know what the important things they need. In order to get lots money, they sacrifice time, health, love and themselves. They forget why they need money. They need money for a happy life, but they are tortured by money in the end. That's weird. Also people don't know how to cherish every moment. People always tell themselves they will do the things latter on but they always forget, including me. In the next minute, everything changes. People always regrets about if they could know early. To be honest, it's useless. Anyway, this movie really gives me a lot of reflection.

Laws of Attraction

Daniel and Audrey are lawyers who are good at fighting divorce lawsuits. Audrey is a woman who has no boyfriends and never loses lawsuits. She's always neat and professional in her cases. Daniel is a man who is very untidy and a little bit crazy in the way of divorce lawsuits. Unlike Audrey who graduated from Yale with first prize, Daniel becomes a professional by lots of experience of divorce lawsuits. He really knows how to take advantage of his opponents. As lawyers, they have many chances to argue with each other in the court. They are like cats and dogs. However, they get married accidentally. In a case of famous rock singer and designer, Audrey is in the side of the famous rock singer who isn't very faithful to his wife and Daniel represents the designer who can't put up with her husband anymore. This couple agrees to divorce but both of them want the same thing- a castle in Ireland. Each of them claims he or she is the only owner. To investigate the truth, Daniel and Audrey came to Ireland. In there, they joined a festivity and got married. Now they are couples in relationship and opponents in court.

They live in the same house to pretend as a couple for the newspaper reveals their relationship. During the time, they get close to each other. They are in love. However, Daniel finds a secret of the rock singer by accident. That's a key to win this lawsuit. In the court, he uses it to defeat Audrey. Audrey feels disappointed about Daniel's behavior so she decides to break up with him. In Daniel's heart, he thinks their love isn't a mistake and never regrets. He agrees to divorce because he respects Audrey's decision. In the end, the rock singer reconciles with the designer. At the same time, Daniel and Audrey also find that their relationship isn't real. It's not lawful at all. After Daniel's leaving, Audrey finally realizes she is falling in love with Daniel. They get married in the end.
After watching this movie, I think about a question. What will most people do when their careers is conflicting with their lovers' career? Which side will they choose? Daniel doesn't mean to rebel Audrey's belief, but he does spill the beans. Sometimes people hurt their beloved ones by accident, but I think this could be avoided. People always have their choices. What makes them choose to hurt their beloved ones? I think that may be their desires for winning.

What Happens in Vegas

After the important midterm exams, I went to the library to watch this movie. It's an interesting movie. These two people, Joy and Jack, met in Vegas. Joy went there for being dumped by her boyfriend and Jack went there for being fired by his father. They were having lots of fun at there and they got married after a couple of hours. Both of them regretted the next day. Whey they had a deal to divorce immediately, they won the jackpot, three million dollars. Jack used the coin which was Joy's and played the machine which was playing by Joy originally. Therefore, it was hard to decide who was the owner of jackpot. In the end, the judge sentenced they had to fulfill their marriage obligation for six months and they had go to marriage guidance every week. The judge will freeze the three million dollars for six months first, and sentence it to the one who really made his or her best to maintain this relationship. When Joy and Jack lived in the same house, they had many different habits. They tried hard to irritate each other in order to get the money, but they gradually fell in love with each other during the competition. When Joy thought Jack was in love with her like her did, Joy received the ring from her ex-boyfriend and her ex-boyfriend was asking her back to him. Joy was hurt by this because she knew the ring was another trap which was set by Jack. At the court, Joy gave up the money and asked for divorce. Jack finally realized he had fallen in love with Joy and he decided to ask her back to him. However, Joy quitted her job, shut her cell-phone and disappeared. In the end, Jack found Joy at a place which Joy was once mentioned to Jack.

This movie is a love comedy but not boring. I think it's quite creative even if its ending is the usual happy ending. In the beginning of the story, it's really fun. The best part I like is the plot when they're trying hard to set trap for each other. They and their friends always come up with many ideas which are really ridiculous. In addition, their friends finally cooperate together and give the ex-boyfriend of Joy a lesson in the end. That's interesting. It also talks audience about how did Joy and Jack got married in the first day they met. Anyway, this movie is so interesting that makes me relaxed. See it or you'll regret!!!

I am David

This movie is an adaptation of Anne Holm's novel "North to Freedom". It's a story of an orphan, David. David grew up in a Communist concentration camp with a compass, a sealed letter, a loaf of bread and instructions to carry the letter to Copenhagen, Denmark. He escaped from Bulgaria, and needed to go through Greece, Italy, and Switzerland to Denmark. After he left Greece, he sneaked into a ship to Italy and got help from a shipman. At Italy, he saved a girl's life and experienced the warm of family. In the way to Switzerland, he met an old lady who was a painter. This lady helped David a lot and treated him very well, but he had to go on his journey. When David got into a bookstore of Switzerland, he found he was familiar with a female author who published an autobiography. Then he remembered everything when he was a child. The female author was his mother. In the end, he finally had reunion with his mother.

In this movie, David changes a lot. At first, he is a boy who wouldn't open his heart to everyone. Since he grew up in the Communist concentration camp, he knew how to protect himself and learned not to try to make a mistake. In that camp, his good friend, John, was dead for David because he stole a piece of soap. That affected David very much. When he escaped from the camp, he always fled away from others who tried to help him. But he gradually knew that some people were sincere to help him even though some people he met were not good and kind ones. David learned to accept their assistance little by little and he became a optimistic boy finally. I think the movie is really good for its way of filming and the young boy's fantastic acting. The boy really show the audience the struggle of David's heart and his facial expression is also excellent. The movie is use the technique of flashback and makes David's memory remembering all the things from his childhood. Anyway, this movie is really good.

August Rush

At the beginning, Evan was a eleven-year-old orphan who desired to find his parents. He could hear the music that other children couldn't. All the orphans wanted to be adopted except him. He believed that his parents would come to find him someday, so he sneaked from the orphanage. He came to New York and met a child who came from a place led by "Wizard" who housed many orphans for street performing. Wizard gave Evan the name "August Rush" and convinced him he will be sent back to the orphanage if his real name was known by other people.
Louis and Lyla met in eleven years before. Louis was the Irish guitarist and lead singer of a rock band and Laura was a famous cellist. They had an romantic night and never saw each other again. Lyla became pregnant, which made her father angry, insisted Lyla giving up the child. After they quarreled with each other, Lyla had a car accident. When she came to in hospital, she was told by her father that her child had died. In fact, her father sent his grandson to an orphanage. Louis had never forgotten Lyla and didn't know about Evan. However, both gave up their music careers.
When Lyla's father was dying, he told everything to Lyla, including the child. Lyla flied to New York to find her son and began to play cello again. She got a chance to perform in the New York Philharmonic. Meanwhile, Louis was also back to the band and decided to sing at an restaurant in New York for he got the wrong information that Lyla was married. At the same time, Evan was enrolled at Juilliard School as ''August Rush" for his great talent in music. His work was chosen to be performed by the New York Philharmonic in Central Park, but Wizard barged into a rehearsal and took him back the life of performing music on street. Evan met his father in coincidence although they didn't know each other.
Finally, Evan ran away from Wizard and performed his work as his original plan. Lyla was attracted by Evan's music and Louis also came to the concert because he saw Evan's pseudonym along with Lyla's name on a sign billing. In the end, Evan finally found his parents.
The whole movie is connected by different kinds of pieces of music. Although I think the plot is quite hackneyed, I still love this story for its music is fantastic. Besides, I also find some mistakes. Take Evan for example. His lines are too mature for a eleven-year-old and the wrinkled hands in Evan's performance at Central Park are totally unfitting to a child. Anyway, it's a good movie.

27 Dresses

In the beginning, Jane was busying in playing a bridesmaid in others' weddings. She had 27 bridesmaid dresses. One night, she was trying to be a bridesmaid in two weddings, one was at Brooklyn and the other one was at Manhattan. A reporter, Kevin, who were in charge of writing wedding column, discovered that Jane was always the bridesmaid of many brides and Jane enjoyed doing it. He thought the report of Jane will help him out of the boring wedding column. So he decided to get close to Jane. When they got more familiar with each other, Jane found that Kevin was cynical toward wedding. Therefore, they quarreled.
In the meantime, the coming of her younger sister's coming was another trouble for Jane because Jane's boss was attracted by the younger sister, Tess. What's the worse was that Jane was in secret love with her boss, George. Tess asked Jane to plan another wedding which was for Tess and George. Jane felt sad and furious because Tess lied to George in order to get his attention. At the engagement party, Jane used slides to reveal what was the real Tess. But Jane regretted for what she had done. Jane realized that it was wrong to take care of others forever.
In the end, Jane discovered she had fallen in love with Kevin and she quitted her job. At their wedding, all the brides Jane had helped was playing bridesmaids for Jane and wore their own bridesmaid's clothes.
This movie is a love comedy but I saw myself in it. I was once a person who couldn't say no to others. I did many things for others but they seemed to ignore me when I needed help. I felt I was like a fool. But now, I can refuse others' requests. Sometimes I even express it too straightly. It's really difficult to refuse properly.

Chocolat

This is a movie based on a novel. At the beginning, Vian and her daughter, Arnuk, moved from a place to another place. This time Vian opened a chocolate store in conservative town in France. The chocolate she made seemed to have magical power so that people who tasted it couldn't resist. At that town, everyone does worship every Sunday. People wouldn't be regarded as a member of the town if they didn't attend. Vian refused to attend it. The count and priests were very unpleasant with Vian because she encouraged people to listen to their own hearts and followed with their desires. It seemed that there are two sides struggle against each other- one is those townspeople who encouraged by Vian; the other is those conservative people.
At the same time, there were a group of Gypsies came by boats. Vian fell in love with the leader and help those Gypsies. That made the count more furious. In those people who encouraged by Vian, there was a woman, Josephine, who was abused by her husband, Serge. An old lady, Amanda, who had heart attack but still loved to pursue freedom. Her daughter, Carolyn, who was hardhearted because her heart was hurt. An old widow and a old man, Julian, who had a crush on her. At the end, Josephine broke up with her husband and took his coffee shop because Serge was accused of setting fire on those gypsy boats. She lived independently and happily. Amanda passed away with satisfaction. Carolyn overcame the gap between her and her mother. The widow and Julian got together. The count who always fought against Vian also gave in those tasty chocolates. It seemed that everyone lived more like a human being. They all got rid of the restriction. As for Vian, she discovered where she wanted to stay the most.
I think this movie is a little bit mysterious. People always wouldn't face themselves bravely. They ignore what they want and pretend they don't want anything. Greedy is not a good thing but human beings couldn't live without desires. That's impossible! As long as our desire wouldn't hurt people or offend people, we could have desires. Just as Vian, what she sells are dreams and comfort.

Peaceful Warrior

The movie is an adaption based on a novel. Dan was the heroic figure who is rich and smart. In addition, he was also the contestant who strived for the opportunity to go to Olympics. At one night, he was wakening up by a nightmare. When he went out, he walked into a gas station. He met a mysterious old man who was wise and had special ability. The old man could jump on the roof from ground. Dan asked the old to tell him the tip. Because the old man's wise words and his mysterious behavior, Dan called him "Socrates".
Socrates trained Dan in a total different way and asked Dan to change his lifestyle. However, Dan was hurt seriously in a car accident. He may never take a part in Olympics even the general competition. Socrates tried to help Dan to accept the fact and began a new life. Under the guidance of Socrates, Dan had new conception toward everything. In the end, Dan finally achieved his dream.
This movie really shocks me because I've lived ignorantly. I have no big dream and I always pursuit my goal in a wrong way. I'm just like Dan, who doesn't the events which happened around him. I always do the work the day before the deadline and spend all my life in trivial thing. When I watched the movie, I felt shameful. I've made up my mind not wasting my time. I'll do my best to achieve it. The movie is wonderful!!!

Rendition

In the beginning, there was a terrible explosion in Cape Town. Two Americans who related to government were on their way to meet a general of the South Africa. One was killed by the pieces of glass which was caused from the explosion. At the same time, an Egypt-American boarded from Cape Town to America. However, he disappeared after he arrived. He was arrested by CIA for he was suspected to contact with those terrorists. The head of terror-investigating sent him to a distant country of the Third World and cooperated with a local general to tortured the man. His wife tried to figure out what had happened. She searched for a man's help who was an assistant of a senator. The other American government officer, who was also an agent of CIA, was ordered to get more information from the suspect. The general used cruel means and asked the agent not to interfere.
Then the story began to flashback. The general's daughter was falling in love with a young guy who was very enthusiastic about fighting for their true God. His brother was also the same but he was killed by the general. However, the girl found that the guy was trying to kill her father and he approached her just for revenge. The young guy decided to take the attack of suicide blast. She was trying to stop him but failed. The young guy was killed by his companions and the bomb exploded. From the beginning to the end, the Egypt-American was totally not related to the event. Finally, the agent of CIA fought against his boss and sent the man back to his home.
In this movie, I can realize the reason why CIA arrested the man but I can't agree with them. They didn't even apologize to the victim or make up for the victim. That's unfair. I also think that torturing is the worst way to get the information from a suspect. That totally ignores the human rights of suspects. Although I am a little furious, I still think this movie is worthy to see.

Escape from Huang Shi

This movie is based on the true story of one British whose name is George Hogg. The background of this movie was in 1937, which China was invaded by Japan. Hogg was a journalist and he tried to sneak into Nanjing to get the first information of war. However, he saw something cruel that shouldn't be seen-Japanese soldiers was killing Chinese people who don't have any weapon. Worst of all, he was caught by those soldiers. When he was going to be beheaded by Japanese, a leader of communist saved him and he went to one orphanage of Huang Shi for healing. At there, he met some orphans who lost family in the war.

At first, Hogg couldn't communicate with those children because he didn't understand Chinese. He even thought about leaving, but he stayed in the end and decided to take care of those children. By the help of a businessman, Hogg and those children built up their new home. At the same time, the invasion of Japanese was getting close. In order to avoid the massacre of Japan and the conscription of KMT, Hogg and the communist led these children to go to another place. The walked along the Silk Road and ran into some dangerous situation. But they overcame those difficulties. In the end, Hogg died for tetanus because he was hurt in the road accidentally.
I think it's a good movie for remembering George Hogg. This movie isn't focus on the topic of the cruel war but on the selfless love of Hogg. The strange thing is I didn't feel very touched. The probable reason is I've seen many movies which also on the similar topic. Anyway, it's still a good movie, especially in the devotion of Hogg. Nowadays, some of those saved children are still alive and they would always be grateful to Hogg.

Atonement

This movie is based on the novel of Ian McEwan. I think this movie is very good. Its plot is full of regret and pity. In addition, this movie is acted by famous actors and actresses. In fact, I'm quite fond of Keira Knightley. That's the real reason I watch this movie. However, this movie really gives me something to think.
This movie began from the girl's misunderstanding. Briony was a writer who was rich in imagination. She saw her sister, Cecilia, flirted with Robey, son of a servant. Briony had finished a play for celebrating her brother's return and rehearsed with her cousins, twins and their sister, who came from north. Her brother came back with a businessman, Paul, who run a chocolate factory. Briony's twin cousins ran away from her home and everyone was out to look for them. In the process of searching, Briony found the twins' sister was raped by someone. On the unreasonable reason, Briony accused Robey was the criminal. Therefore, Robey was seperated from Cecilia and Cecilia was never back home.
After about five years, Robey was sent to a war. Cecilia chose to be a nurse. As for Briony, she gave up the chance to go to Cambrige. She decided to become nurse as an atonement for her sin because she gradually found how serious what she had done to Cecilia and Robey. Finally, Briony remembered the real criminal. But it was too late. Briony gave a happy ending for Cecilia and Robey in her autobiography, but in reality, it was different.
I think Briony felt guilty all her life and never been forgiven by her sister and herself. Because of the lie, all her family's life changed, including herself. Sometime people speak lies, but they also carry the burden of lies. Lies may disappear or not, but its trails wouldn't be erased. No matter the purpose of telling lies is for protection, jealousness, or love, it's still a kind of betrayal.

21

I saw this movie this winter vacation. Since it had been in theaters last summer vacation, I had always curious about it. This movie is talking about the issue of "gambling." It's an adaption of the novel, "Bringing down the House."
In the story, Ben Campell was one of the most gifted students in MIT who couldn't pay his tuition. However, he found himself taking a part of a secret plan. One brilliant statistics professor of MIT knew how to counting card. This professor found six the most gifted students in MIT and teaching them all the skills. They used weekends to go to Las Vegas. This team armed with fake IDs and succeeds in breaking the impenetrable casinos.
After the triumphs, Ben seemed to lose himself. At the first, his goal was to save enough money for his tuition of college. Because he had indulged himself in luxury, he couldn't give up gambling and get away. Besides, he also got into the trouble because he became a target of casinos for counting cards. He even lost his best friends for he was always busy in gambling. Moreover, he had a quarrel with the statistics professor and lost all the money he got from casinos.
In the end, he helped the casino's staff to arrest the statistics professor who was also the target several years ago. Although he still couldn't get enough money for tuition, he won the scholarship because of this special experience.
When people in great success, they're easy to lose themselves. I've heard a sentence, "power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely." , which I think is very fair enough. How to control emotion is important for everyone to learn. This is one thing I learned from the movie.

Why I Love to Read Martial Novels(Revised)

Nowadays many people may not read martial novels, but they may hear or watch some famous adaptions of them on TV. Why are those martial novels so fanscinating? Why are the plots so interesting that people couldn't resist them? Do the characters in the novels much characterized that make people feel vivid as if we saw them in our life? Or do people just want to read romantic stories about those vagrants'? I'm curious about it. I also enjoy reading martial novels and watching the adaptations of them. To me, martial novels are a way to train imagination, learn how to write stories and keep historical record.

In reality, most people don't have those special martial skills like moving lightly without leaving footprints. But in martial novels, it's possible. When I read those books, I can use my imagination to imagine what will happen next. I paint series of colorful scenes of the main plots in my mind. I can even see those characters fight, argue or set traps for their enemies or companions. I would also imagine their appearance and their special skills. When they are in danger, I would become nervous as if I were the one in danger. After I finished reading, I sometimes got quite tired because of my excitement for the characters' adventure or mourning for the characters' death. Each martial novel means not just a book but an adventure to me.

In martial novels, authors wouldn't tell stories in a direct way. They'll use hints to foreshadow later developments. Every incident is linked together, so I'll get the whole story first when I read martial novels. Then I'll read them again and again to find those hints. By doing this, I gradually know that those hints in stories are important because hints are key to determine whether martial novels are good or not. In addition, I would pick up the good sentences from books. It's useful for me when I try to write a new story. I would also try to learn how authors describe scenes or characters. In fact, martial novels are my first teacher to teach me writing in an informal way.

The backgrounds of most martial novels are set in ancient times. So I could get much information about the populace's life, which was seldom emphasized in history record. Moreover, those entertainments, customs and social values could also be preserved in it. Take Jin Yong's martial novels for example. Although his works are about the vagrants and their love story, there are still some ancient entertainments in his works, like storytelling in teahouses or the cultural things, like dialects of different places. Folktales or poems written by famous poets are also preserved in it. For this reason, I get not only the stories but the historical values when I read it.

Lots of people love to read martial novels for different reasons. Some people read them for the exciting plots or the its interesting characters; some read them just for killing times. At first, I read martial novels to kill time, but I changed after I read them again and again. I found the values of reading martial novels such as learning some techniques for writing a good novel or the historical background. Martial novels are not just the products of imagination, but also vivid history record for people with imagination.

Screen Printing

When I was in junior high, it was my first time to do screen printing. It was interesting. Although it took a half of semester to finish it, it was very busy but interesting.
First, I had to make the wooden frame. I cut the wood in the right shape so that it could be combined perfectly. Then draw silk fabric tightly and nail it on the frame.
Second, use tape to stick the wooden frame. Cover all the frame so that it wouldn't mildew. Pour some emulsion in the square area and use hair
dryer to dry it.
Next, take out the powerpoint which already has pattern on it and put
pattern in the reversed way. Use light to shed on the the halftone for
fifteen to twenty minutes. Then wash the emulsion of the halftone and dry the halftone.
Third, pour some printint ink inside the frame and print it on papers. The printing ink could be washed and the halftone could be used many times.

This is my work^__^

Beginning of 2009

A new year starts, but I'm not very enjoying right now. This semester is almost over, so there are lots of reports and oral presentation have to be finished in next week. Well, I feel a little frustrated. On the other hand, the winter vacation is coming. That's a good thing. I have many plans to do, like learning how to drive and taking a trip to Hualien or Penghu.
But now, I have to prepare the final exams and do the papers first. In the group project of composition, I searched for some information of Taj Mahal.

It's a mausoleum that a king of India built this for his beloved wife. The queen died for giving birth and she asked king to build a beautiful mausoleum for her. It took twenty-two years to built it. Unfortunately, his son usurped the throne in 1657. So the king was imprisoned until he died. Although he was improsoned, he still looked the reflection of Taj Mahal in the pond. Finally, he was buried in the same mausoleum with his wife. This story really touched me. I make up my mind taking a trip to Taj Mahal in the future.
