What Happens in Vegas

After the important midterm exams, I went to the library to watch this movie. It's an interesting movie. These two people, Joy and Jack, met in Vegas. Joy went there for being dumped by her boyfriend and Jack went there for being fired by his father. They were having lots of fun at there and they got married after a couple of hours. Both of them regretted the next day. Whey they had a deal to divorce immediately, they won the jackpot, three million dollars. Jack used the coin which was Joy's and played the machine which was playing by Joy originally. Therefore, it was hard to decide who was the owner of jackpot. In the end, the judge sentenced they had to fulfill their marriage obligation for six months and they had go to marriage guidance every week. The judge will freeze the three million dollars for six months first, and sentence it to the one who really made his or her best to maintain this relationship. When Joy and Jack lived in the same house, they had many different habits. They tried hard to irritate each other in order to get the money, but they gradually fell in love with each other during the competition. When Joy thought Jack was in love with her like her did, Joy received the ring from her ex-boyfriend and her ex-boyfriend was asking her back to him. Joy was hurt by this because she knew the ring was another trap which was set by Jack. At the court, Joy gave up the money and asked for divorce. Jack finally realized he had fallen in love with Joy and he decided to ask her back to him. However, Joy quitted her job, shut her cell-phone and disappeared. In the end, Jack found Joy at a place which Joy was once mentioned to Jack.

This movie is a love comedy but not boring. I think it's quite creative even if its ending is the usual happy ending. In the beginning of the story, it's really fun. The best part I like is the plot when they're trying hard to set trap for each other. They and their friends always come up with many ideas which are really ridiculous. In addition, their friends finally cooperate together and give the ex-boyfriend of Joy a lesson in the end. That's interesting. It also talks audience about how did Joy and Jack got married in the first day they met. Anyway, this movie is so interesting that makes me relaxed. See it or you'll regret!!!

I am David

This movie is an adaptation of Anne Holm's novel "North to Freedom". It's a story of an orphan, David. David grew up in a Communist concentration camp with a compass, a sealed letter, a loaf of bread and instructions to carry the letter to Copenhagen, Denmark. He escaped from Bulgaria, and needed to go through Greece, Italy, and Switzerland to Denmark. After he left Greece, he sneaked into a ship to Italy and got help from a shipman. At Italy, he saved a girl's life and experienced the warm of family. In the way to Switzerland, he met an old lady who was a painter. This lady helped David a lot and treated him very well, but he had to go on his journey. When David got into a bookstore of Switzerland, he found he was familiar with a female author who published an autobiography. Then he remembered everything when he was a child. The female author was his mother. In the end, he finally had reunion with his mother.

In this movie, David changes a lot. At first, he is a boy who wouldn't open his heart to everyone. Since he grew up in the Communist concentration camp, he knew how to protect himself and learned not to try to make a mistake. In that camp, his good friend, John, was dead for David because he stole a piece of soap. That affected David very much. When he escaped from the camp, he always fled away from others who tried to help him. But he gradually knew that some people were sincere to help him even though some people he met were not good and kind ones. David learned to accept their assistance little by little and he became a optimistic boy finally. I think the movie is really good for its way of filming and the young boy's fantastic acting. The boy really show the audience the struggle of David's heart and his facial expression is also excellent. The movie is use the technique of flashback and makes David's memory remembering all the things from his childhood. Anyway, this movie is really good.

August Rush

At the beginning, Evan was a eleven-year-old orphan who desired to find his parents. He could hear the music that other children couldn't. All the orphans wanted to be adopted except him. He believed that his parents would come to find him someday, so he sneaked from the orphanage. He came to New York and met a child who came from a place led by "Wizard" who housed many orphans for street performing. Wizard gave Evan the name "August Rush" and convinced him he will be sent back to the orphanage if his real name was known by other people.
Louis and Lyla met in eleven years before. Louis was the Irish guitarist and lead singer of a rock band and Laura was a famous cellist. They had an romantic night and never saw each other again. Lyla became pregnant, which made her father angry, insisted Lyla giving up the child. After they quarreled with each other, Lyla had a car accident. When she came to in hospital, she was told by her father that her child had died. In fact, her father sent his grandson to an orphanage. Louis had never forgotten Lyla and didn't know about Evan. However, both gave up their music careers.
When Lyla's father was dying, he told everything to Lyla, including the child. Lyla flied to New York to find her son and began to play cello again. She got a chance to perform in the New York Philharmonic. Meanwhile, Louis was also back to the band and decided to sing at an restaurant in New York for he got the wrong information that Lyla was married. At the same time, Evan was enrolled at Juilliard School as ''August Rush" for his great talent in music. His work was chosen to be performed by the New York Philharmonic in Central Park, but Wizard barged into a rehearsal and took him back the life of performing music on street. Evan met his father in coincidence although they didn't know each other.
Finally, Evan ran away from Wizard and performed his work as his original plan. Lyla was attracted by Evan's music and Louis also came to the concert because he saw Evan's pseudonym along with Lyla's name on a sign billing. In the end, Evan finally found his parents.
The whole movie is connected by different kinds of pieces of music. Although I think the plot is quite hackneyed, I still love this story for its music is fantastic. Besides, I also find some mistakes. Take Evan for example. His lines are too mature for a eleven-year-old and the wrinkled hands in Evan's performance at Central Park are totally unfitting to a child. Anyway, it's a good movie.

27 Dresses

In the beginning, Jane was busying in playing a bridesmaid in others' weddings. She had 27 bridesmaid dresses. One night, she was trying to be a bridesmaid in two weddings, one was at Brooklyn and the other one was at Manhattan. A reporter, Kevin, who were in charge of writing wedding column, discovered that Jane was always the bridesmaid of many brides and Jane enjoyed doing it. He thought the report of Jane will help him out of the boring wedding column. So he decided to get close to Jane. When they got more familiar with each other, Jane found that Kevin was cynical toward wedding. Therefore, they quarreled.
In the meantime, the coming of her younger sister's coming was another trouble for Jane because Jane's boss was attracted by the younger sister, Tess. What's the worse was that Jane was in secret love with her boss, George. Tess asked Jane to plan another wedding which was for Tess and George. Jane felt sad and furious because Tess lied to George in order to get his attention. At the engagement party, Jane used slides to reveal what was the real Tess. But Jane regretted for what she had done. Jane realized that it was wrong to take care of others forever.
In the end, Jane discovered she had fallen in love with Kevin and she quitted her job. At their wedding, all the brides Jane had helped was playing bridesmaids for Jane and wore their own bridesmaid's clothes.
This movie is a love comedy but I saw myself in it. I was once a person who couldn't say no to others. I did many things for others but they seemed to ignore me when I needed help. I felt I was like a fool. But now, I can refuse others' requests. Sometimes I even express it too straightly. It's really difficult to refuse properly.

Chocolat

This is a movie based on a novel. At the beginning, Vian and her daughter, Arnuk, moved from a place to another place. This time Vian opened a chocolate store in conservative town in France. The chocolate she made seemed to have magical power so that people who tasted it couldn't resist. At that town, everyone does worship every Sunday. People wouldn't be regarded as a member of the town if they didn't attend. Vian refused to attend it. The count and priests were very unpleasant with Vian because she encouraged people to listen to their own hearts and followed with their desires. It seemed that there are two sides struggle against each other- one is those townspeople who encouraged by Vian; the other is those conservative people.
At the same time, there were a group of Gypsies came by boats. Vian fell in love with the leader and help those Gypsies. That made the count more furious. In those people who encouraged by Vian, there was a woman, Josephine, who was abused by her husband, Serge. An old lady, Amanda, who had heart attack but still loved to pursue freedom. Her daughter, Carolyn, who was hardhearted because her heart was hurt. An old widow and a old man, Julian, who had a crush on her. At the end, Josephine broke up with her husband and took his coffee shop because Serge was accused of setting fire on those gypsy boats. She lived independently and happily. Amanda passed away with satisfaction. Carolyn overcame the gap between her and her mother. The widow and Julian got together. The count who always fought against Vian also gave in those tasty chocolates. It seemed that everyone lived more like a human being. They all got rid of the restriction. As for Vian, she discovered where she wanted to stay the most.
I think this movie is a little bit mysterious. People always wouldn't face themselves bravely. They ignore what they want and pretend they don't want anything. Greedy is not a good thing but human beings couldn't live without desires. That's impossible! As long as our desire wouldn't hurt people or offend people, we could have desires. Just as Vian, what she sells are dreams and comfort.
