This movie is adapted from a famous novel. It a story about betrayal and atonement.
It happened in 70s in Afghanistan. Amir, a twelve years child who is from rich family, and Hassan, who is a servent's kid, are good friends. They like to share stories and fly a kite together. After the kite-fighting tournament, Amir began to keep Hassan at a distance because he saw Hassan was bullied but he didn't rescue him. Amir incriminated Hassan stolen his watch. So Hassan and his father left Amir's house. Then Afghanistan was invaded by Russian. Amir and his father went to America and lived there for ten years.
Amir got a phone call from an old servent who had watched the house for Amir's family. The old servent asked him to go to Afghanistan because he wanted Amir to rescue the boy of Hassan. Hassan was dead for against Russian. The old servent told Amir that Hassan is his half-brother. So Amir must save the boy because he is his nephew. In the end, Amir brought the boy back to America and lived together.
When I watched the movie, I was thinking about Amir's behavior. He didn't try to help Hassan when other kids bullied him, even severed their friendship. If I am Amir, I wouldn't do that. Maybe a twelve years old kid doesn't know how to deal with such kind of thing. But I think Amir shouldn't pretend that he didn't see it. He could do other things for Hassan just as Hassan always supported him in many things. When Amir went to rescue his nephew, I think he did a good job. He finally got his friendship back. This movie is really wonderful.

I had read the book but I didn't watch the movie. My mom always said to admire other is a good thing because you may learn from them, but envy is bad because it might make you lose your mind. Anyway, I was touched by the friendship between them and I think it proves that there are something that would never change with time.
